Son of Shri. P.O. Joseph; born at Purapuzha; June 10 1942; M.A.; Agriculturist, Political and Social worker.

Joined the Kerala Congress in 1968; became General Secretary of the Kerala Congress in 1976; associated with the social activities form 1967; elected to Kerala University Syndicate in 1976; elected to KLA in 1970, 1977, 1980 and 1982, 1987 and 1996. He was Minister for Home from January 16, 1978 to September 14, 1978; was Minister for Revenue, Excise and Education from 28.12.1981 to 17.03.1982; was Minister for Revenue and Housing (1982-1987); was Minister for Education, PWD and Housing from May 1996 to May 2001.
